If any of you are like me, the dog food recalls that have occurred over the past several months have me seriously questioning the quality of the food I am feeding my dogs.I have 3 pugs...and I love them like my children...so why not feed them the same?
Obviously, you can't feed your pets the same foods you feed your family, but you can feed them foods that are safer and healthier that what you buy in the stores.
What's GOOD for your Dog?
Vegetables most are GREAT for your dog and they should have them! Dogs have shorter digestive tracts than humans and cannot digest most vegetables whole or in large chunks. It’s best to put them through a food processor before giving them to your dog-
best veggies for your dog are:
Carrots (for healthy dogs) (not for cancer dogs though as high in sugar)
Green Beans
Lettuce
Yams
Grains:Grains should not be given in large amounts or make up a large part of a dog’s diet, but these foods are generally safe in small amounts
Rice Bread (not white breads or anything sugar or that converts to sugar) remember the simple rule feed no WHITE colored foods!
Dairy products: Use caution with dairy products as they are high in fat and can cause pancreatitis, gas and diarrhea. Usually, nonfat plain yogurt is safe in small amounts as is cottage cheese in small amounts.

I don't know about cooking for dogs, seems a bit stupid to me. But what can you expect from someone who spams the cooking groups with an ad to buy the CopyCat recipe book? Rather stupid on your part, but that's the way spammers are, STUPID and you've just joined their ranks.
Congratualtions.
I think Joan hasn't ever had to deal with a sick puppy who can't stop pooping and who is vomiting all the time. I think she hasn't had to hand her puppy over to a ver tech, not knowing whether or not she is going to see those beautiful brown eyes again.
I cook for my two pugs and it's the best thing that I could ever do for my dogs. Keep up the good work!
I'll share my receipe for my girls:
1 lb organic ground pork (boiled and drained)
8oz baked organic acorn squash (pureed in the food processor)
8oz steamed organic broccoli (then pureed in the food processor)
8 oz pureed organic apples (skin left on)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp bone meal
divided into 1/2 cup portions and makes 2 days with of meals for my two pugs.
They are in amazing shape and they are doing really well, health wise. They also shed less on this diet!!
We also add 500mg of Primerose oil to their food at meal time, along with 1/8 tsp probiotic and our older pug gets 1 tbsp of Ricotta cheese added as well. Each morning they get a doggy multivitamin too.
Their snacks are bananas, apples, pears and dried meat bites (when I can get them).
